Riff

Here at Gapfy, we think a riff is the right way to picture code: a small phrase you play, repeat, and build on until it becomes something whole. Git works the same way, one commit at a time. Riff is the client we built so that working like this feels natural and calm, instead of a fight with a tool that hides what it is doing.

Your history, finally legible

Most Git clients show you everything and explain nothing. Riff does the opposite. Your branches, your commits, and the changes inside each one are laid out so clearly that you always know where you stand. The diff viewer shows you exactly what moved, line by line, before you commit a single thing. No surprises, no guessing, no dread.

  • Read your branches, commits and changes laid out so you always know where you stand.
  • See exactly what moved, line by line, before you commit a thing.
  • No surprises, no guessing, no dread.

The hard parts, made gentle

Branching, merging, rebasing, the moments where Git usually turns tense. Riff walks you through each of them, showing you what will happen before it happens and giving you a clear way back if you change your mind. The full power of Git stays in your hands. What goes away is the fear of reaching for it.

  • Branch, merge and rebase with a clear preview of what will happen.
  • A clear way back whenever you change your mind.
  • The full power of Git, without the fear of reaching for it.

Connected to the whole family

Riff was built to sit beside Maestro, Harmony, and Echo, and it signs in with the same Gapfy account. Your work moves between the tools without friction, and your credentials are kept safe and never left lying around. One family, one account, and one team that builds every piece of it with the same care.

  • AI stays opt-in: the assistant is quiet until you ask for it.

A calmer way to work with Git

Here at Gapfy, we live in Git all day, which makes us hard to please. Riff is the client we wanted: native on Windows, honest about what it is doing, and built on the real Git CLI so it always matches your terminal.

Commit templates, validated live

Admins define commit-message templates with required fields in the Gapfy web portal. Riff validates as you type, so every commit fits the convention before it lands.

Branch names that behave

Branch-naming patterns from your team are checked while you type. And if an admin regex is invalid, Riff fails open, so nobody is ever wrongly blocked.

Compliance you can measure

One click checks history against your convention, Conventional Commits by default and fully editable. Scores, trends and top violations publish to the Gapfy web portal.

A graph worth staring at

Colored lanes with rounded connectors, author avatars, merge dots and branch and tag chips. See all branches at once and scroll history without end.

Staging that feels right

Stage, unstage or discard per file, amend, and drop in your commit template. Diffs are side by side and syntax highlighted, with collapsible hunks and image previews.

Undo for scary operations

Every rebase, squash, cherry-pick, reset or force-push snapshots your repo first. One-click Undo, persisted Redo, force-with-lease always, and an auto-stash offer for dirty trees.

Conflicts, calmly resolved

An operation banner keeps Continue and Abort within reach. Resolve files with Use Ours or Use Theirs, or compose ours, theirs or both per region inline.

Every repo, one home

Group repos into workspaces with one-click fetch-all and live status badges. Setlist gathers pull requests, issues and WIPs across Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket.

Zero AI by default

Riff ships quiet. Twelve assists, from draft commit messages to conflict help, exist for Pro AI seats, and nothing runs until you opt in per feature.

Conventions your whole team actually follows

Style guides die in wikis. Riff moves your commit, branch and PR conventions into the tool itself, checked at the exact moment someone types, and measured after they land.

Define once, apply everywhere

Admins set commit templates, branch patterns and PR templates centrally in the Gapfy web portal. Every Riff client picks them up and validates live as people type.

Enforcement without the bruises

Suggestion, Warning or Blocking: only Blocking disables the action button. An invalid admin regex fails open, so developers are never wrongly blocked by a broken rule.

Proof, not promises

The compliance dashboard publishes per-repo scores, trends and top violations to the Gapfy web portal, so you watch the convention take hold instead of hoping it did.

Documentation

Step-by-step guides for getting started, organizing your work, and going deep on every feature.
